This course provides an introduction to some of the key themes in art and design, enabling students to enhance their artistic skills, techniques, knowledge and the opportunity to begin the development of an individual portfolio of art and design work.
This is achieved through various projects using a range of different 2D media and specialist equipment. The units covered focus on the essential 2D elements in art and design which will include drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed-media.The portfolio of work students produce will reflect their unique potential within art and design and will enable them to study at a higher level or gain employment. Students explore the work of other artists and designers and learn how they have made a career in art and design. This work is supported by educational visits to galleries.

Art is my release. I have a tough time outside of school and find it really therapeutic to focus my thoughts when in my art classes. My teacher allows me to be creative and really pushes me to produce work that I never thought I would be able to do.
