The GCSE in English Literature course will encourage you to be inspired by following a clear and worthwhile course of study. It will extend your interest in, and enthusiasm for, literature as you develop an understanding of the ways in which literature is rich and powerful. It will also prepare you to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices.

The study of literature can really improve your reading and writing skills in your study of English too, by practising your skills through Literature, you can gain increased enjoyment of, and success in, reading and analysing texts.

This qualification is made up of two exam units, and one controlled assessment unit. The two exam units test your knowledge and understanding of a text from different cultures, modern unseen poetry and modern drama/prose
