Today pupils from KS3 engaged in educational talks that had been arranged by Humberside police. The pupils visited the state-of-the-art police control room in Melton, and were lucky enough to have a tour.
Pupils listened and behaved well during a talk with police officers from the armed response unit. The group were part of a discussion regarding knife crime, wherein the officers shared a lot of their personal experiences with the group. All pupils listened, engaged and took part in discussions regarding; the trauma involved in knife crime, the impact of knife crime on individuals, families, and communities and the laws around knife crime. This was really informative and some of the facts and experiences shocked the group.
Pupils observed officers at the station working hard, answering emergency 999 calls as well as non emergency 101 calls. They were then able to view live CCTV footage from locations across Hull and East Yorkshire.
It was very educational and the pupils enjoyed all the sessions. The entire group were very respectful and represented our school well throughout. Well done KS3!
